Build a colony. Decide where the work goes.

A free, open-source real-time strategy game. Build a settlement, keep it fed, and compete with rival colonies. You assign workers to buildings and place flags; the globs find their own routes and look after their needs.

Start with the tutorial. Browser play is in early access.

Give the colony work, then watch what happens.

A building needs materials and workers. Those workers also need meals and sometimes medical care. Your decisions connect these needs: a new construction project can wait while the colony catches up on food.

A large purple colony seen from above, with a purple swarm on the left, rows of crescent-shaped inns and other buildings, many small purple globs, lakes ringed with sand and fields of wheat to the right.
Grow a thriving colony. A purple colony late in a four-colony match: rows of inns and other buildings, with dozens of globs at work between the lakes.
A red colony with three spiky red swarms, inns, round stone buildings and a pool. Range circles overlap the colony, and purple globs mix with red globs near the top-left corner.
Hold your ground. Three red swarms around the colony’s buildings. Purple globs have reached its top-left edge, where red warriors are under attack.
A red and a lime exploration flag next to each other inside their range circles, beside a lake. Lime buildings sit to the north and east, with a large wheat field to the south and forest on either side.
Race rivals for the map. Red and lime exploration flags side by side on open ground, with lime buildings beyond and wheat fields below.

Three decisions you will make

  1. Where should workers go?

Set the worker demand at each building. Construction, food deliveries and other jobs draw on the same workforce, so increasing one request can leave another waiting.

  2. Can you feed a larger colony?

Inns feed your globs; swarms produce more of them. Keep wheat within reach and inns supplied before expanding your population.

  3. Where do you need information or force?

Exploration flags attract explorers; war flags attract warriors. Choose a destination, then watch which units arrive and how the route affects them.

An open-source RTS with a long history

Globulation 2’s first alpha appeared in 2004. The original wiki preserves its community’s manuals and experiments; the current project develops the game and browser version in public.
